Stay on target iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro Have More Cameras, More ProblemsApple Arcade Launches Next Week As we get closer to the inevitable reveal of new iPhones this fall, more credible rumors will begin trickling out. One of the most recent, credible, and disappointing rumors is that the 2018 iPhones won’t even bother shipping with a lightning-to-headphone adapter. It’ll make it that much more difficult to opt out of Apple’s proprietary ports and wireless tech if you want to use headphones. And while we get Apple’s larger philosophy here, it really sucks the world’s first trillion dollar company is forcing consumers to spend an extra $9 for a dongle. But those aren’t the only iPhone rumors out there. We’re deep into summer now so you know what that means: endless speculation about what’s happening in the fall. In the tech world, one of the biggest and most consistent fall announcements to look forward to is the unveiling and subsequent release of Apple’s next iPhone. Last year gave us two whole new models to chew over with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. But by September those will surely be yesterday’s news. So it’s time now to guess about the future of iPhones! The biggest rumor is that Apple will reveal some kind of updated budget iPhone. Well, “budget” only in the sense it will include iPhone X-style features for a price less than $1,000. Seeing as it is between 8 and X, the name floating around for this device ($600 as predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo) is iPhone 9. It would also presumably be different than a follow-up to the even cheaper iPhone SE.As an “iPhone X for the rest of us” the iPhone 9 would carry over some of the shiniest features from that phone. The 6.1-inch LCD screen would would include a notch for the TrueDepth camera allowing you to scan your face for Face ID and Animoji. The body would be made of more affordable aluminum and glass materials but would still allow for wireless charging. There would only be one 12-megapixel camera on the back. But unlike its more more expensive and serious counterparts, the iPhone 9 could come in a wider array of colors like blue, red, and orange a la the plastic iPhone 5C.Meanwhile, Apple would also continue the iPhone X line with a product straight out of Final Fantasy called iPhone X2. This would be the next true premium, cutting-edge, top of the line iPhone. The biggest innovation here would be the introduction of an even bigger iPhone X2 Plus with a whopping 6.5-inch OLED bezel-free display. Aside from that though there aren’t too many rumors for this product, which makes sense as this would be the smaller “tock” following the iPhone X’s big “tick.” All of these new iPhones would of course also run iOS 12 on some kind of updated A12 chip (and no headphone jack). It’s kind of embarrassing how excited we can still get for new iPhones but there’s a reason why Apple’s dominance in the mobile space doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. So check back here this September, and every September after that, for official news on the next iPhones. If you’re not stoked about this iPhone news though maybe consider an exciting Android phone like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or these other upcoming Android phones.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
