Hubertus von Roenne has been appointed chairman of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association. Von Roenne is a director responsible for strategic deal management at BT Global Services. Mevlüt Çavusoglu has been elected president of the Council of Europe’s parliamentary assembly. Çavusoglu succeeds Lluís Maria de Puig. He is the first Turk to hold the post. Ümit Boyner has been elected president of Tusiad, the Turkish industry and business association. She succeeds Dogan Yalçindag. Gerhard Hofmann has been appointed chairman of the European Banking Industry Committee. Hofmann, vice-president of the National Association of German Co-operative Banks, succeeds Karl-Peter Schackmann-Fallis. Francesco Lo Voi has been appointed as Italy’s representative at Eurojust. He replaces Cesare Martellino, who retired in June 2008. Carmen Manfredda, Italy’s deputy national member, has been filling the post in an acting capacity. Andrew Fielding has been appointed director of development and communication at Bruegel, a Brussels-based think-tank. He replaces Renu Sabherwal.
